[history]
A month after the U.S. Supreme Court's 5-to-4 decision for George W. Bush in the presidential election, dissenting Justice David Souter met at the Court with a group of prep-school students from Choate. He told them how frustrated he was that he couldn't broker a deal to win over one more justice -- Anthony Kennedy being the obvious candidate. ``If he'd had 'one more day -- one more day,' Souter now told the Choate students, he believed he would have prevailed,'' according to an excerpt of an upcoming book by Newsweek Senior Writer David Kaplan.

1) Newsweek? Kaplan?
2) The Commission on Civil Rights took the "Erin Brokovich Approach" and found not one single instance of a voter being disenfranchised. They nevertheless decided that something nefarious had occurred.
3) The Supreme Court upheld the laws established in Florida.

I only scanned the article, but I don't exactly see any quotes from the MAJORITY. Typical Newsweek, which is why I only scanned it.

If the Democrats attempt to steal another national election, even the Supreme Court won't be able to protect Democrats from the people next time.
We know what happened. We know who the election thieves and crooks REALLY are. The Supreme Court saved this country from some serious violence.

What a piece of leftist Democrat propaganda! Did the DNC write this, or is this "news" reporting? These people will never get over this and let it go, will they?

Oh, for crying OUT LOUD! No "secret vote" made Bush President; the VOTERS and the Constitutionally mandated process made Bush President.
HOW MANY RECOUNTS DID THEY DO WHICH SHOWED BUSH STILL WON????
Sorry for the screaming, but this type of pathetic LYING really PISSES ME OFF.

Even if this is true, there are some facts conveniently left out in order to secure the headline 'The Secret Vote That Made Bush President'...
If one justice had voted the other way, that would have meant the counting would have continued, which would have meant more court cases, the overseas military ballots being re-included, and any other similar unresolved issues. In order to state as fact the assertion that one vote "made Bush President" would have meant that the vote going the opposite way would "make Gore President". This was not the case. IMHO, Gore would have still lost, even if the Supreme Court decision had submitted a different remedy for the often ignored main 7-2 decision, which ruled for Bush.

Souter is a jackass, the worst Republican appointee ever made with the exception of Earl Warren.

``The sands of history will show Bush won by a single vote, cast in a 5-to-4 ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court. The vote was Tony Kennedy's. One justice had picked the president.'' I love this liberal math. 77.8% of the justices decide the extended counting of ballots in Florida is flawed and illegal, and 55.5%, a majority, decide there is no way to fix it.
By liberal math, this becomes 11.1% of the Supreme Court selects the president!
